Fascia Boards & Soffits
When putting up new fascias, soffits and bargeboards or replacing them, the best option is to fit uPVC. Available in popular white, black and two shades of brown, uPVC fascia and soffit material will save maintenance and looks great – there will be no need for repainting every other year, just wiping down with a damp cloth.
Bargeboards provide a finish to the gable end of your home sealing the verge. Bargeboards and fascias are manufactured from 19mm heavy duty board to provide long life and durability. Finished with a highly polished surface to reflect heat to reduce expansion and contraction problems which may occur with thinner boards. A foamed core makes it lightweight and resistant to water ingress, and 5 meter lengths are used to produce fewer joints
Current building regulations require ventilation in the soffit for new buildings (equivalent to a one inch gap along the whole perimeter), although not absolutely necessary, when fitting replacement soffit, it is worth considering
fitting pre-ventilated soffit to improve ventilation of the roof void (picture above right).
There are many reasons why, when replacing your homes bargeboards and fascias, to use uPVC and just some of its qualities are listed below:
Weather has no effect on PVC-U building materials. Problems like rotting, rust, etc. just don’t apply. Even in special conditions like coast areas (salt, storm, sun,) PVC-U is more applicable.
PVC-U burns when subjected to flame, but does not burn by itself: The product extinguishes immediately when the external flame source is removed.
Resistance to most chemical products
The list of chemical products that PVC-U is able to resist is very long indeed and can be obtained on request.

Easy to clean = low maintenance
Its closed, smooth surface means that PVC-U is extremely easy to clean using a gentle household detergent dissolved in water. This also means that the product is virtually dirt resistant because there are no pores that can be filled with dirt?
Like wood, PVC-U is a good insulator. Its coefficient of heat conductivity is actually slightly lower than wood at 0.17 W/m°C, compared with 0.23 W/m°C. The equivalent coefficient for aluminum is approximately 210 W/m°C.
Additional plastic components, such as end cap can easily be bonded to PVC-U.
